Safe and gentle care to alleviate back and pelvic pain during pregnancy.

Pregnancy is a beautiful journey, but the profound physical and hormonal changes it brings can lead to significant discomfort. Our chiropractic care for pregnancy-related discomfort provides a safe, gentle, and highly effective way to manage pain, optimize pelvic alignment, and support your body as it adapts to your growing baby.
As your baby grows, your center of gravity shifts forward, greatly increasing the curve of your lower back. Simultaneously, your body releases a hormone called relaxin, which loosens your ligaments to prepare for birth. This combination of altered biomechanics and joint laxity often results in pelvic instability, lower back pain, sciatica, and round ligament pain.
Our specialized prenatal chiropractic care focuses on restoring balance to your pelvis and spine. By utilizing gentle techniques tailored specifically for pregnant women, we alleviate the physical stress on your body, relieve nerve pressure, and create a more comfortable environment for both you and your baby.
When the pelvis is misaligned during pregnancy, it not only causes pain for the mother but can also restrict the amount of room available for the developing baby—a condition known as intrauterine constraint. This can make it difficult for the baby to get into the optimal head-down position for delivery.
We utilize specific, low-force chiropractic adjustments, most notably the Webster Technique. This technique involves a careful analysis of the sacrum and pelvis, followed by a gentle adjustment to correct any misalignments. We also apply light, sustained pressure to release tension in the surrounding soft tissues, particularly the round ligaments that support the uterus.
By restoring proper pelvic biomechanics and relaxing the supporting musculature, we reduce the strain on your lower back and sciatic nerve. This mechanical balance also helps remove intrauterine constraint, naturally encouraging your baby to assume the best possible position for a smoother, safer labor and delivery.
Our prenatal care is ideal for any expectant mother, from the first trimester all the way up to the day of delivery, who is experiencing discomfort or wishes to proactively optimize her pelvic alignment for birth.
Ideal Candidates Include:
Contraindications: Chiropractic care is exceptionally safe during pregnancy. However, it may be contraindicated if you are experiencing vaginal bleeding, ruptured amniotic membranes, sudden onset of severe pelvic pain, toxemia (preeclampsia), or an ectopic pregnancy. Always inform your OB-GYN or midwife that you are receiving chiropractic care.
Your comfort and safety are our top priorities. During your visit, we use specialized pregnancy pillows and adjustable tables that allow you to lie face down comfortably, accommodating your growing belly at any stage of your pregnancy.
The adjustments are incredibly gentle. Because of the relaxin hormone present in your body, very little force is required to correct misalignments. We do not use forceful twisting or heavy pressure. You will likely feel light stretching, gentle pressure on your pelvis, and soft tissue massage. Sessions typically last 15-30 minutes.
Recovery and Downtime: There is no downtime. Most mothers report feeling lighter, more balanced, and experiencing immediate relief from pelvic pressure right off the table.
Recommended Sessions: Frequency depends on your specific symptoms. Many women come in once a week or once every two weeks during their second and third trimesters to maintain alignment as the baby grows rapidly, and then increase frequency in the final weeks leading up to birth.
